One of the private space companies operating in the commercial space is Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) to receive space and ISS loads. SNC, the long-running spacecraft, is called Dream Chaser and is similar to the small Space Shuttle.
Dream Chaser is set to launch its first mission in 2020 and, before this mission, the company announced the final stage of the commercial Resupply Services 2 contract. That means spacecraft will switch to production in full.
Finally, Dream Chaser will be used to transport cargoes to the ISS. Dream Chaser was a conceptual tool for NASA commercial crew program, but instead decided to go to SpaceX and Boeing instead of NASA. In the cargo ship's version, the ship will have a wing of the spacecraft and transport 12 thousand pounds of cargo in space and will increase by 4,000 pounds.
SNC was awarded a commercial contract that guarantees the ISS at least six missions. SpaceX and Orbital ATK each have similar agreements. Several components necessary for the full creation of the Dream Chaser spacecraft have already been tested and tested.
SNC announced the completion of the first Dream Chaser assembly and testing in October of the next year. All private firms dealing with cargo and crew contracts with NASA try to reduce the cost of space missions.
